So all of us who did our GCSE's a couple of months ago received our results today and it has been so amazing to hear how well the vast majority have done. It was quite emotional (as I'm sure it was for everyone else) to open the envelope that revealed whether or not the hard work paid off. Thankfully, in my case, it is safe to say that it did. Honestly, of course I was a little bit disappointed because I didn't achieve all that I wanted but I guess I'm just one of those people who needs to learn to lower there standards. I know that I worked my arse off as do the people around me I'm sure, due to the amount of time I spent worrying and talking about it. Sorry guys!
After today, I can actually say that I managed to get the grades I need to get on to an amazing course to allow me to go on and pursue a career that yesterday I was literally dreaming of. I did it. I, at 16 years of age achieved a massive dream of mine. If I can do that this young, then surely my other goals are reachable, right?
I couldn't be more proud of my friends. Throughout Secondary School, you have all made me feel safe and secure. I am no longer afraid to be myself or to branch off and do my own thing. That's thanks to you guys. You should all be glowing with pride and I know for definite that the future is looking sunny and bright for you all!
The exam period was tough for everyone. The never ending stress and masses of work seemed too much and had little positives at the time, but today it was obvious how vital the revision was.
Regardless of how well or how badly we did, we tried out best and that's all any individual can do. We all know for a fact that wearing school uniform is no longer necessary and that a new chapter of our lives is about to start. An exciting one on everyone's part I hope.
Pretty soon we'll all be adults, grown up's, going out in to the big wide world feeling more scared and anxious than we were today. That's a really weird thought.
Secondary School has given me the opportunity to find myself. I mean that in that I now know who my friends are, what my hobbies are and which subjects I excel at. I know that contact sport isn't for me but performing is. I know that I get along equally with boys and girls and that Science is a department I can easily stay away from. My confidence and passion has grown immensely and for that I couldn't be more thankful. I am determined and excited for my new journey as I'm sure most of us are.
Bring on September. That's all I can say.
Much love,
Dotty
